Tunnel action groups launch prize packed online auction

Unst and Yell Tunnel Action Groups will today (Wednesday 3 December) launch a bumper online auction to raise funds to support the seismic surveys of Bluemull Sound and Yell Sound. This is the next vital step towards making tunnels to the islands of Unst and Yell a reality.

The auction, at https://uk.givergy.com/shetland-tunnels-auction will go live at 5.00 pm today, and offers an array of enticing items and experiences generously donated by local businesses and supporters of the campaign. From self-catering hideaways to fresh local produce and one-of-a-kind experiences, there’s something for everyone to bid on and support this important work.

Joint chair of Unst Tunnel Action Group, Alice Mathewson, said: “We ran a very successful auction two years ago which generated over £10,000 to support the geo-technical investigations and the socio-economic and environmental impact work for the tunnels. With even more items this time round, we aim to smash that total!

“We are extremely grateful to all those that have donated so generously to the auction. The funds, together with that which has already been raised in the community, will all contribute to the seismic work.”

The auction will run until 9.00 pm on Friday 12th December, allowing ample opportunity for supporters to participate, bid, and contribute to the project. Every bid counts and will make a significant impact to the fundraising effort.
